In Firefox 15.0.1 - regarding BOOKMARKS - is there any way, if I am viewing a bookmarked page to press just ONE KEY or click one place to get to my next bookmark in sequence? My problem is, I have saved about 100 EBAY searches as bookmarks. But to keep my bookmark menu clean i created a subfolder called EBAY and within that 6 categories 1 thru 6 each containing less than 20 bookmarks. After I view the first I go to the next and so forth, but to do so i have to FIRST click BOOKMARK, then EBAY, then 1 thru 6, then the bookmark - time consuming. Is there anyway to just get the next bookmark in sequence to open faster?

Soluzione scelta

Open the bookmarks in the sidebar.

  • Toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Command+B on Mac)

Please update to the current Firefox 22.0 release.

  • Help > About Firefox

The Firefox 15 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.

  • It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest version to get all security fixes.

Not often someone mostly solves their own problem - but I DID find a workaround for this: I exported an HTML file of all my bookmarks to my C drive. Then, i type C: into a firefox window and just click on bookmarks.html. that gives me a permanent list of all the bookmarks in sequence in one window, and i just click the first to open it, then use the back arrow to get my list back. Only drawback is if i update a bookmark i have to export the list again. It would be REALLY nice if there were a way to create a bunch of extra BOOKMARK Lists (like 2,3,4, etc) in the FILE EDIT VIEW HISTORY BOOKMARKS TOOLS HELP bar, since there is so much empty space to the right.

Make use of the bookmarks toolbar, but instead of single bookmarks make folders with short names or a number or a letter, each of them may then be used as a list of bookmarks. Or nest more folders and it is a list of lists.

thanks SO Much for the sidebar idea - EXACTLY what i needed! What a fabulous time saver. So long as EBAY doesn't go and "tweak" their search engine again I am set for life:). I don't believe I can upgrade to version 22 using Windows XP - do correct me if i am wrong.

Glad the sidebar suggestion from cor-el worked.
Although I think the bookmarks toolbar idea of mine was closer to what you asked for. That would allow you to have drop-down lists 1,2,3 ... -ca15 on the top of your screeen from clickable icons.

Firefox 22 should be no problem on XP and corel has already suggested you should upgrade. You should be able to do that from the Help menu

  • Help -> About Firefox -> [check for upgrade]
  • There should be no need to uninstall Firefox but if you ever need to do NOT use any option that says remove personal information because that will destroy Bookmarks and passwords.

thank you - i found the sidebar works better because it retains the position of the page i am currently on and stays open, so when i want the next page it is easier to get there via the sidebar. the toolbar is better when you have only a few pages you want at quick disposal, not 100+ in folders. i will only upgrade if i find a compelling reason to do so - "if it ain't broke, don't try fixin' it.":)

Do as you like but upgrading is a good idea and if the browser being faster and having improved features does not tempt you then the security risks and fixes should sway you.

Please remember once a security fix is released the details are known and public that makes it easier to exploit older insecure versions.
