Why is date format in mm/dd/yy & time 12hs when entering date in Business Objects report paramenters - V4 only?

In the past (previous versions of Firefox) dates have been entered as dd/mm/yy and time in 24hs. It appears with the upgrade to V4 that when using Business Objects XI that I now have to enter the report parameters in mm/dd/yy & 12hr format. Existing reports (ie. before V4) have their parameters interpreted as mm/dd/yy, even though they were entered as dd/mm/yy. I haven't noticed this with other web sites but haven't been looking.
