I am using Firefox 24.0 and I would like to know how to alphabetize my bookmarks. Right now they are all over the place. Thanks, Jerry

Soluzione scelta

Open the Bookmarks Sidebar, right-click and use Sort by Name. If you have any separators you'll need to sort separately for each group between the separators.

Hi Tyler Downer, Even tho Firefox 24 is no longer supported there has to be a solution. Why not just answer the question and be done with it. Thanks, Jerry

Hi Jerry, Mozilla publishes a list of fixed security flaws after each new release, and because many users are slow to update, bad actors do exploit them to inject malware into your system or simply to steal information.

(Verizon's 2015 data breach report, "found that 99.9% of the exploited vulnerabilities had been compromised more than a year after the associated CVE was published" (p15). In other words, just because the news cycle has moved on to the latest flaw does not mean that cybercriminals are not harvesting the low-hanging fruit of obsolete software.)

Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 38? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

Also, as you may know, the user interface of Firefox changed significantly in Firefox 29, so it's a challenge for forum volunteers to recall or look up how things used to be done "in the old days." Here's the current advice that may well apply to Firefox 24:

"Sort by name" appears on the right-click menu when you are viewing your bookmarks in the Library dialog, which you can open using Ctrl+Shift+b or "Show All Bookmarks" from the Bookmarks menu or Bookmarks menu button on the toolbar. To sort the main level of the Bookmarks Menu, right-click Bookmarks Menu in the left column of the Library dialog. To sort the bookmarks in a folder, right-click the folder. Et cetera.
