Per impostazione predefinita, la posta elettronica push (Push email) è disattivata per tutte le cartelle. Thunderbird per Android consente di configurare un numero limitato di cartelle (solo IMAP; POP non è supportato) per la posta elettronica push in modo da poter visualizzare immediatamente i messaggi di posta elettronica in arrivo.

Attivare le email push per una cartella

Attenzione: il numero massimo di cartelle push per un account è impostato nel menu dell'app ≡ > icona dell'ingranaggio Impostazioni gear icon > il proprio account di posta elettronica > Recupero messaggi > Avanzate > MMassimo di cartelle da sincronizzare in push. L'utente non viene avvisato da Thunderbird quando questo limite viene superato. Superare questo limite comporterà il mancato funzionamento della posta elettronica push su alcune delle cartelle che hai configurato per la push.
  1. Toccare il pulsante ≡ in alto a sinistra. Se i propri account email sono nascosti, toccare Mostra gli account nella parte inferiore dello schermo.
  2. Toccare l'account, ad esempio il proprio account Gmail > toccare Gestione cartelle.
  3. Toccare la cartella che si desidera scegliere. Ad esempio, toccare Posta in arrivo per abilitare la posta elettronica push per la propria Posta in arrivo.

  4. Attivare la posta elettronica push per quella cartella toccando il cursore relativo all'impostazione Abilita Push (spostarlo a destra).
  5. Disattivare la sincronizzazione per quella cartella toccando il cursore relativo all'impostazione Attiva sincronizzazione (spostarlo a sinistra).
L'impostazione Attiva sincronizzazione è per le sincronizzazioni periodiche e dovrebbe essere disattivato dopo aver attivato il push.

Dopo aver attivato la posta elettronica push per almeno una cartella, si dovrebbe visualizzare un'icona a forma di campana nella barra di sistema di Android (barra delle notifiche). L'icona a forma di campana indica che la posta elettronica push è attivata.

Alarms & Reminders Permission for Android 13 and above

This section is not applicable to you if your Android version is older than Android 13.
  1. On Android 13 and above, a notification will let you know you need to grant the Alarms & reminders permission. Proceed to the permissions screen by tapping the Missing permission to schedule alarms notification.

  2. Add this permission by tapping until the slider is on the right for Allow setting alarms and reminders. If you do not grant this permission, then push email will not work.

The push email service notification

  • Once the permission is granted (or right after enabling push on older Android versions), Thunderbird for Android will display a push email service notification entitled Waiting for new emails:

  • Tapping on the Waiting for new emails notification will allow you to configure the notification itself (Configure notification) or to disable push email altogether (Disable Push):

You can change the display of this notification or hide it by tapping Configure notification.

Hide the push email service notification

Hiding the push email service notification does not turn off push email.

Minimizing the notification will hide the bell icon from the Android status bar, but still keep the notification in the notification shade. You will still be able to see the status of your push email service (e.g. Waiting for new emails or Sleeping until network is available).

Disable Push email from the push email service notification using "Disable Push"

Tap Disable Push to disable push email altogether.

Turn off push email for a folder

  1. Tap ≡ at the top left. If your email accounts are hidden, tap Show accounts at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap account e.g. your Gmail account > tap Manage folders.
  3. Tap your folder of choice. For example, tap Inbox to disable push email for your Inbox.
  4. Turn off push email for this folder by tapping until the slider is on the left for Enable Push.
  5. Turn on sync for this folder by tapping until the slider is on the right for Enable sync.

New Email notifications are completely separate from the push email service notification

The notifications for new email messages are configured separately from the push email service notification. New email notifications are configured as follows:

  • Tap the application menu ≡ > Settings gear icon gear icon > Notifications > Messages under Notification categories.
