My big computer seems to be shut out of thunderbirds but my phone still works now that I contacted spark my phone now no longer works as well. please re-enstate my thunder bird emails onto my big computer and my phone. I prefer thunderbirds than using the xtra.web page. thankyou for your time on this. Janine van Marrewijk.

I recently added a email address to my thunderbird email and it brought forward a lot of messages from Yahoo that are spam. I would like to block them and instructions I have were dated 2016 from Mozilla. Is there a new instruction on how to block?

Sometime ago, Thunderbird stopped being able to connect with my GMail and Hotmail email accounts. I guess this had something to do with the change to OAuth authentication. I then switched over to Yahoo accounts which worked perfectly until last night when I installed the latest update, i.e. 153.0.1esr (Meadow). Now, I cannot connect with ANY account whatsoever. Thunderbird just stopped working in my two Windows 10 laptops and it does not seem to work on the Windows 11, either, although I have only tried Gmail accounts on that one (without the update), as I cannot possibly be left without an email handler.

If I try to download my emails, I get a screen that tells me that I should “Turn-off ad blockers“ and “Enable JavaScript“ in my browser, but I have tried several (4) browsers as default with the same result. I don’t have either ad blockers or cookie restrictions in any one of them and JavaScript is enabled in all (it is now by default).

I have downloaded and installed “eM Client” and it works *perfectly*. However, I would loathe to have to abandon Thunderbird and get used to an entirely new program, but which is what I will have to do if this thing is not resolved ASAP.

As mentioned, I think there has to do with the OAuth authentication system.

I have even tried ChatGPT, without success!

And there is no way to revert to the previous version !!!!!

Please do something NOW, or it is, regrettably, goodbye Thunderbird!

1) When launched, Thunderbird 140.13 has a pop-up window asking for a Host Gator login. HG has not been used or on this system over 8 years. "cloud80.hostgator.com is requesting your username and password." What would cause this window to appear and How to delete it completely?

2) Also, after the Thunderbird 140.13 installed and re-launched, an email was sent requesting to verify location and login sent from: "accounts at firefox.com". Is this a common request from Mozilla firefox / thunderbird?

Recently updated to ESR Meadow.

Now when I try to save attachment from an email by dragging and dropping to desktop, Windows pops up "Error Moving File or Folder - Unspecified error" and the operation fails.

And when I try to save attachment from an email by right click > open > Save dialog, the save filename is always "nsmail" but with the original file extension. E.g. a jpg attachment would come up as "nsmail.jpg", and a txt file attachment would come up as nsmail.txt. It does then save it, but why lose the filename?

It used to preserve the attachment filename, I'm sure! And drag and drop to desktop was such a convenient feature!

I have tried in Troubleshoot mode and behaviour is the same. I have tried in Windows Safe mode and behaviour for Save is the same; but drag and drop is completely disabled there (when I drag it, it shows a circle with line through icon).

Is it just me?

Hello For the past few days, every time I launch Thunderbird, I’m asked to re-enter my account password. I do this every time after deleting the saved passwords in the settings, ticking the ‘Use the password manager...’ box, and restarting Thunderbird. But nothing seems to work. Do you have a solution? And worse yet, every 10-15 seconds I receive an alert that the connection has timed out. About a year-ish or so ago, our internet provider (Cox) sold our email service to yahoo. Although I managed to get all of the accounts (cox allowed our household 5) entered so that they all *received* mail, only one was able to send mail. The other four could only receive. Also, I could not send mail from either my google/gmail address or my very ancient yahoomail address. But all could at least receive mails. All in thunderbird, Excellent. As of yesterday, only one (a previous cox address) can receive or send mail. I tried sending a test mail to all of the other addresses, and no joy. If I get onto the yahoo main site, I can sign in with password and then must receive a text, phone call or other verification. And, of course, sign out of each, then sign into another, lather, rinse, repeat. Apparently I can also use a "passkey" which appears to be an actual "thing" that I have to plug into a USB port. I don't have one of these and have no idea what it is or how to get one. Since I've been composing this request, I've gotten 6 pop-up notices that the thunderbird server to yahoo has "timed out" - this is pretty annoying! And, there's another one! I am open to suggestions! Thunderbird has been great for getting all the emails in one place. Now, not so much. Help me!

Why is Thunderbird consatntly coming up with "Authentification failure while trying to connect to server outlook.office365.com"? It never used to and would download my hotmail emails perfectly until about a month ago. This is very frustrating, I have removed my hotmail account from thunderbird and re installed it, works for ocassionally the back to same old message authentification failure. What is going on with thunderbird?153.02

clearly as a 68 year old man who knows nothing about modern technology things like this are not what you need I am also classed as Severely disabled with various illnesses from Diabetes and sleep apnea to Ulcerative Colitis and mental health problems.I also have CTS in both hands so trying to type this out on my phone is not ideal I am not having a go at anyone but I would have thought that with the amount of intelligent people connected to technology organisations that one of them would have thought about this type of problem and came up with a simple solution it's not rocket science if the main problem I'm having is not being able to access my email and have no other accessible other ways to confirm things to you surely a freely available freephone number from the country you live in to yourselves or if you yourselves contacted the person Directly preferably on their home phone but if not their recognised mobile number and asked them some basic security questions by firstly asking them for two step verification to their mobile (if they have one) likewise I am aware not everyone had either a home phone or a mobile (or both) because of various problems I have encountered with verification methods that are not available to me or might be but I dont know how they work then surely I cannot be the only one? under the 1998 Human Rights Acts and Protocols Article 1 Protocol 1 people like myself are meant to have protective status especially here in Britain where the 2010 Equalities Act is meant to give us added protection and certain rights all I am asking for is to speak to someone who wont talk to me using Computer Jargon and at least has some Empathy and Common Sense to help me get this Sorted I use Firefox and Mozilla because I Like what you are trying to do but if you are going to cause people like myself the exact same problems I and others like me may as well just not bother with technology because the Stress it causes me in particular is simply not worth it. On T-Bird start up I'm given a list of (originally) four Profiles. Currently I only use Profile Three, but on start=up today it is not there. Doing the usual searches does not list it, only 'default', 'new user' and 'profile two'. Is there any way to recover it?

thunderbird is not able to access mail.twc.com for 2 days now. Spectrum webmail didn't work yesterday, but is now functional. Thunderbird may need a fix to deal with whatever changes Spectrum made to its mail server,

This is a follow-on to a question I asked yesterday. I appear to have accidentally deleted the main Profile I use for email. However - thinking back - I'm 99% sure I clicked the 'Don't Delete Folders' command. This supposedly deleted the Profile name BUT retained all the information in 'storage' - but where is that located?

For whatever reason after the lastest Thunderbird update Windstream is refusing the connection to Thunderbird email client. I have gone through all of the delete .msf files for all of the inboxes tried adjusting server settings to no avail on anything.

I need a filter on a message to FULLY FINISH before a next message starts to be filtered. The "help" (quotes because it's an abyssal crap) says that simply ending the filter with Stop Filter Execution does it - but that's simply NOT TRUE: calling a console program in the filter, I can see five DOS boxes opening at the same time with five messages matching, i.e. the filters on the next message DID NOT wait! So... what can I do??

All of the above is because I'm getting "Too many simultaneous connections on the server". I'd like to limit the concurrency, but it only seems to be possible in IMAP, while this connection is a POP. Why only IMAP??!

I still use Thunderbird on an old desktop and for the past month or more, I've discovered with some sort of communication error or the direct pop-up that I cannot login to server and it asked me to 'retry'/'Enter New Password"/"Cancel" and it's beyond frustrating. I'm on the verge of just uninstalling this for my emails and use another platform. Before so, since I've been using TBird for a long time, I figured I'd consult some experts here to guide me how to navigate this annoyance. ANY suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

It's very odd. Normally moving an email, say from the Inbox to the relevant year's archive, takes "no time at all".

Which is true for all the mailboxes shown on the attached screenshot, EXCEPT for the four at the bottom. Moving even one message from Inbox to Yiddish can take ten seconds or longer (with the dreaded "Not Responding" occasionally). Moving something in the opposite direction is also screwy, only from those four.

I had thought that it was because they're rather large. This first started when there were just Yiddish and MSW, and I split off most of the earlier years into the archives shown. To no avail.

It's only an annoyance, but I'm puzzled about how such a thing could happen.

Also very slow tagging or untagging a message just in those mailboxes.
