Can Firefox block " ieSnare " from installing flash cookies?

ieSnare is a "protection system" used by certain websites (often gambling) which installs a *.sol file (flash cookie) into a file system, supposedly indicating a fraudulent machine. This may then be read by other sites using ieSnare, who often just shut down Firefox when encountering it. It's possible to find and delete *.sol files, but they are quickly reinstalled when an ieSnare site is entered. BTW - I'm not a fraudulent operator...

Hi,

Not sure about Flash 10, but if you update to the latest Adobe Flash, a new Flash Player settings panel would be installed in the system. You may find it under Preferences or System. In it, click Storage > Local Storage Settings by Site, Add the site and Block.

Thank you Wilfred. Your solution makes sense, however I have yet to prove it. My attempt to block local storage for Flash1o failed, as you expected. Will update and try again. Just to help my incomplete understanding: It *is* *Adobe* Flash on the web site which calls mpsnare.iesnare? Does it then act on information it finds on *my* machine in real time, stored info re *my* machine on the DRA database, or info re the Web site I'm attempting to reach from the site running the "snare"?
