I sometimes don't receive emails and sometimes the recipients don't receive my emails. I tried to regress to an earlier version of Thunderbird, but when I tried to switch-off automatic updates I couldn't find any references to Updates in Menu >> Preferences. I am on Thunderbird 91.9.1

Look in Tools>Preferences>General

Preferences is under Menu. There is no Preferences under Tools in my version of Thunderbird.

True. Latest version is Tools>Settings>General.

There is no "Tools > Settings" In the version of Thunderbird that I am using, which is 91.9.1.

Hmmm.... In non-Windows versions, that may be Edit>Preferences. Regardless, it is on the same panel that allows setting of default font, disk space, search engine and more

Sorry. Edit > Preferences contains all you have listed, except for Updates.

What OS are you using? Knowing that may help.

If you are using Linux, there is likely no update feature. Which means to get an update you have to manually request it via an available support service. The 'good news' is that an update will not be forced upon you.
