Can we retain the old 'top sites' with larger screen images?

I love the old 'top sites' screen images of earlier versions - I now seem to get the much smaller images, presumably designed for phone/tablet users. Is there any optional way to retain the old style? And, if so, wouldn't it be great to be able to choose what sites appear!

Very grateful for this almost instant support! It makes a lot of difference to me, running with a large desktop screen.
