Is there any way to restore the previous functionality of the search box (press F4, first letter, go)? It was soo much faster.

The way the search box has been changed in the new version really slows down changing search engines. Is there any setting to restore the old functionality? Being able to press F4 and then press the first letter of the desired engine made things seriously fast. It was one of the major reasons I stuck with firefox. The same functionality can still be maintained with the new design. Even if I memorized the number of tabs between search engines in the new system, it would still be more cumbersome.

Hello, I suffered from a similar problem with the new search bar type. I've found that you can go into about:config, then search for browser.search.showOneOffButtons boolean and toggle that. This should restore the old functionality. (You might need to restart your browser)

Note that, like always, edit your about:config at your own risk.
