My files won't download until I completely restart Firefox?

Whenever I try to save a file to my computer, the download will say that it has 0 bytes and the progress bar will be completely green but it will not be saved onto my computer. Only when I close out of Firefox and restart it does the download start to commence as normal. I'm uncertain as to what causes it, because some files of the same type are able to be saved just fine without this process. Any advice? Thank you.
