Back in April I was hacked, on my 2012 Acer Desktop (WIndows 10) ,with a (RAT) remote access trojan, and the hacker screwed up my computer & changed my passwords. (Messed up my life bigtime--Creditcards, bank account, etc. I had Thunderbird and don't want to lose my e-mails. I finally got another laptop computer(Windows 11) & want to use Thunderbird there also. with same e-mail & password Just today I finally was able to get a new password for my ISP- windstream.net. How do I go about getting my password changed as I am unsure of what the hacker did. I really don't want to start over from scratch. My e-mail address is labman1@windstream.net. I don't really want to start a whole new account or entity. What do I do to go about changing the password? HELP !!!!

My old desktop used Windows 7 and I used Thunderbird as my mail. I had a tech help and transfer files to a new desktop running Windows 11. Mail came over but he said he couldn't use thunderbird for a reason??? and switched it to Spectrum Mail which I don't like. I would like to restart a thunderbird mail account again but don't remember my password and my old computer has been destroyed. Any way to do this without starting from scratch and losing all my old mail and contacts?

In trying to launch Thunderbird, I am now for the first time being asked for my primary Thunderbird password. I do not remember setting this up and I have no record of this. How do I reset this password so that I can open thunderbird? I have been using Thunderbird for several years now and have never previously been asked for a primary password.

I'm unable to recall which user name & email password combination I used to setup my NTLWorld email when I had to reconfigure it for Virgin/Googlemail. How can I find or reset it (so I can export to mobile)?

Ich kam nicht mehr in mein Thunderbird. Es hieß immer, dass ich das Passwort brauche. Dieses wurde aber nicht akzeptiert. Bin Laie in den technischen Dingen. Habe die App deinstalliert, da ich mir sicher war, dass das Passwort das richtige ist. Nun wollte ich die App neu intallieren, aber dazu soll ich das Passwort eingeben. Wahrscheinlich hatte ich es doch mal geändert, kann mich aber nicht erinnern, da ich es ja nie mehr brauchte. Jetzt komme ich auf gar nichts mehr, da man das PAsswort eingeben muss und ich erst gar nicht in Thunderbird komme. Wäre aber sehr wichtig, da hier all meine Mails gespeichert sind.

I'm trying to re-establish my Thunderbird account after having to re-install Windows. I get to a screen titled "Account Hub" that asks me to add my e-mail address and password. I don't have or recall a password and the screen does not allow an option to recover a password or create a new one.

I'm now trying to rejoin Thunderbird with the same email name but it won't accept the current Microsoft account password (almost certainly now different from previously). I have Thunderbird Version 140.8.1esr | Released March 10, 2026 on windows 11. The problem started 2 days ago when I couldn't receive emails on desk top or the iPhone. I looked on the web to see why I wasn't getting mail on my @yahoo.com mail. The web showed that yahoo had trouble in the eastern US. Not knowing what to do I deleted the email on my iPhone and tried to reinstall it, but couldn't. I didn't have the email password. (The one I had saved wasn't accepted.) I don't know how I got email back on the desk top, but it is working now. I think if I can change the email password on the desk top I can then reinstall it on the iPhone. On another computer on the same WiFi which has a g-mail address also using Thunderbird there was no problem getting mail.

My computer recently crashed, and I've only been able to partly restore it. One of the casualties seems to be access to Thunderbird (although I've just accessed this help page with the password that doesn't work with the App).
