I've installed 8.0.1 and when I try to bookmark a page, Firefox won't save the bookmark. Won't import or restore either.

I downloaded Firefox to reinstall. After installing, I opened a web page and tried to bookmark it. Firefox opens a small form that I am to fill out, providing a name and other information for the bookmark. I fill out the form and click "Done." The form goes away. If I click "Bookmarks" in the menu, I don't see any bookmarks. just commands for "Show all bookmarks, bookmark this page, bookmarks toolbar, and unsorted bookmarks." Show all bookmarks opens a library window. It's empty. None of the functions (Import, restore, etc.) do anything, but no errors are thrown. Bookmark toolbar shows a pop-out side menu with "Empty" written in it. Unsorted Bookmarks opens the empty library window again. I've uninstalled and re-installed Firefox several times, cleaned out the registry, etc. and it continues to refuse to bookmark the pages. But seems Firefox KNOWS the page is bookmarked. The URL will pop up as I start to type it in the address field.
