Prior to firefox 7, downloaded images would continue to be saved in the same user selected folder until the user changed to location. Firefox 7 and above changes this folder location when changing to different web pages. It appears as if firefox is attempting to determine the best folder to use based on past browsing history.

Will this be fixed, or an option added to disable this? It's very disruptive when surfing for different content and always having to check the folder before downloading.

You will have to wait a few version to have the pref browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite available to disable this new feature.
