I need help with thunderbird
I need someone who knows my thunder bird program to send email out.. I just need help. I live in San Rafael

You leave us unable to assist, since you cannot explain anything. Somehow, you or someone installed Thunderbird on your computer, and someone set up an email account there.. You need to be able to state something that helps us assist. Otherwise, your best approach will be to take the computer to a local computer support company where you can get assistance.
I loaded up thunderbird on my new window 11 machine after my window 10 got corrupt. I had the geek squad and Earthlink and neither could figre ir out becase of my email adress. of awhitecar@jps.net. My email address is awhitecar@jps. The geek squad could understand that jps.net is an ld email company that was boufght by onemail and than by earthlink. I have used it for 30 years person and for business. I will never changfe it. I have use thunderbird on my window 7 and 10 machine.. I do noy know who installed it on these machines. . al whitecar
they did get thunder bird to reeve email but i can.t get out emails . If you can.t look into my machine to find out than you are as goo as the geek k squad guy or Earthlink guy. I need help with sending out my email. Al whitecar
Thanks for the info. Have you contacted Earthlink support about this? can you post screenshots or the contents of the server settings pane for account, and the contents of the SMTP server settings? I attached a screenshot of where these panes are.
yes Earthlink guy did look into it and did get my thunder bird to receive emails but failed on sending out emails. al whitecar
Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) imapauth.earthlink.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.
I think you may be close to the solution. That is not an SMTP server. Try changing it to smtpauth.earthlink.net and try sending again.
Port should be 587 and authentication to STARTTLS
where to make these changes hint i do not know what i am doing
I added a screenshot of location.
- click 'account settings' in menu
- click account name in left sidebar
- then, look in lower right for 'edit SMTP server' button or 'edit outgoing server' button
The entries go in that pane.
Friendly advice: Thunderbird is a complex email client. Looking forward, you either need to dedicate time to learning how it works, hire someone to maintain it for you, or use the earthlink web portal. The beauty of using the email provider's website is that you never have to worry about your email. Never. And, an advantage is that you can then access your email from any computer.
