Hello Lauritz,
The error code SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER means that Thunderbird cannot verify the trust for your mail server. Since you have already imported the Root and CA1 certificates into the Authorities, you can try:
1.
- Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Manage Certificates > Authorities
- Find your school's certificate and click Edit Trust...
- Check the box "This certificate can identify mail users".
- Try again.
2. Your school's mail server uses a web interface? if yes try opening it in Firefox. Do you get a similar security warning?
3. Are you using a third-party Antivirus or Firewall with "SSL/TLS Handshake Inspection" or "Email Shield" something like that? Try disabling that and try again.
Let us know if any of these steps resolve the issue or if you need further assistance!
so this problem all of a sudden disapeared but i got it trying to fix another problem where when i try to enable enkryption it say "End-to-end encryption requires resolving certificate issues for "mail adresse"". Im sure its a problem with the certifikat issuer (the danish state) but they say it works on their end but it only startet after our certifikat needed to be refressed
So you need to add your S/MIME certificate?
check that
Thunderbird needs to be told which certificate to use.
- Go to Account Settings.
- Click on End-to-End Encryption under your account.
- Look at the S/MIME section.
- Under Personal Certificate for Digital Signing and Encryption, click Select... and make sure your newly certificate is selected.
