I have Thunderbird 68.12.1 I am on att.com and my email address is dch1244@sbcglobal.net Att .con recently addeded a security key to my outbound mail, and I can send from Thunderbird. I also had to change my password with them and I edited the password in Thunderbird, hjowever I cannot receive email in thunderbird. I have spent over 4 hours talking with tech support with att and no resolution, can you help? It seems it is a server problem as your server will not connect with att

Most ISPs, including AT&T have changed their security such that your AT&T password is not the password used for email clients such as Thunderbird. AT&T refers to it as a Secure Mail Key. They also may be using non-standard ports, so you really need to follow their directions for re-establishing contact.

There's only one password for incoming and outgoing, namely the secure mail key. Remove the passwords from Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, enter the secure mail key when prompted.
