It's more of an annoyance than a problem, but if I enable the Shockwave add-on, the search field in Google (my default start/home page) isn't automatically selected. I have to mouse click in the search field, and then can start typing my search word(s). This was never the case before. When I started Firefox, it would go to my Google start page and the cursor would be in the field and I could just start typing. I know it's a minor annoyance, but having to click the mouse EVERY time I start is unacceptable, especially since it doesn't have to be that way. If I disable shockwave flash, it works as it always has, but then certain videos won't play on various websites.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 14 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems

Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again

Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox

Please note before responding with the usual recipe about Real Player add-ons and latest plug-ins:

I do not have Real Player anything having to do with Real Player on my computer.

I have the latest version of Flash from Adobe: 11.3.300.271.

I have the latest Firefox: 14.0.1

My computer is six-months young: Dell XPS15, with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1

No extra junk software on the computer

And I have written before about another flash issue: Scrolling scrambling video flash content in player (with "sticky" images of clip, player controls and images from other open tabs showing on the player window). I usually have to refresh the tab to get flash to right again.

This time, it is about the latest flash plug-in container crashing even with just only one tab in Firefox open; and immediately after browser launch (so no cache and no browser "exhaustion" yet).

Audio content with no video also crashes the container. Both live and recorded streams. For example, listening to NPR.org full episode stream of Morning edition crashes it. And live audio streams from radio stations crash it. None of these have ads or other content running on their pages.

I have to watch a lot of videos for an online course and this is frustrating.

The "Firefixer" download link in the previous reply was reviewed and removed by a moderator yesterday. Anyone who received that link in an e-mail notification should not download and run the FireFix.exe file.
