Firefox 10.2 running extremely slow, especially compared to version 9 or Chrome or IE, why?

After reinstall Windows 7 I also upgraded to Firefox 10.2. FireFox seems to bog down and just doesn't want to connect to virtually any sight. I have set up both IE and Chrome to start like Firefox does and both are extremely fast. Is this a FireFox 10.2 problem that can be fixed? I didn't have this problem with version 9. What to re-install version 9 to test it, but don't know where to get it, can anyone help?
