how do I adjust my Mime Settings?
I'm having a MIME type error when uploading a legitimate JPG file (RGB Mode) to a website for re-sale.
Their support team wrote back saying that I must do this for it to work/upload properly: "If the jpeg you are uploading is a RGB jpeg (not an sRGB jpeg) and you are still not able to upload, you may be receiving a MIME-Type error. In short, your internet browser does not know what type of file it is uploading to iStockphoto. The MIME-Type should be set to "application/x-zip-compressed. Somehow this setting has been changed on your system. You may wish to reset your browser setting to their default or try using a different browser to upload files to the site."
Can you help me resolve this error or conflict?
Thanks in advance
Gary

This is a little confusing. Do they want to you zip up your JPEG files in a ZIP archive? Otherwise, I don't see why the file should be identified as "application/x-zip-compressed". If you are creating a zip archive using Windows XP's compressed folder feature, you might try a different zip program such as WinZip or the free 7-zip software.
You can try to delete the file mimeTypes.rdf in the Firefox Profile Folder
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions
- https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+file+types
You may also need to inspect the MIME database with the registry editor (regedit.exe) and do a search for that MIME type (file extension) via Ctrl + F.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type
Be careful with editing the registry as there is no Undo possible: all changes are applied immediately.
You can export key(s) before making changes.
Yes, the files mentioned earlier are not going to be zipped or compressed in any way. Their request puzzles me too. I don't see a need to include the zip language in there either.
I have met all their guidelines for uploading but still get the same error.
