When I downloaded Firefox 5.0.1 ALL of my previous Bookmarks disappeared. HELP!

I had categories: Aviation with many different web sites under that category (weather, flight planning, etc.) all gone now. Astronomy, Hydrogen, solar topics, cogeneration to name a few. How can I go back to previous Firefox? This one is a big step backward.

Backing up and restoring bookmarks

Check and tell if its working.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
