Thunderbird Freezes

After Thunderbird is running for a while, it "freezes" with a message saying it is no longer responding. When I click on shut it down it says it is reporting this to windows . After shutting it down windows 10 basically reboots (it takes a while) before I can click on the Thunderbird icon again. Been happening for several weeks.

does it also happen if you are using Thunderbird without your antivirus. they might be fighting over who get to do what like children in the backseat of a car.
