I started using Thunderbird for my emails 8 months ago when I realized that I need my mail to be IMAP so that I could keep track of sent and received mail on multiple devices (Desktop, laptop, iPhone etc). To my horror I have discovered that every now and then a whole chunk of emails just disappear. For example I have all of the last 8 or 9 days emails then there is a gap of around a month, and then only 3 or 3 days worth then another gap etc. The missing emails are not in Junk or Deleted. What is more, upon checking my server they have gone from there too. Fortunately they have not disappeared from my iPhone - but that is the only record I have of them. Can anybody help, or is this the time to abandon TB in favour of something more reliable, or that I can have confidence in?

What is the account type on all of the devices used - POP or IMAP? If POP, do you leave messages on the server?

Assuming multiple devices are using POP, and are not leaving messages on the server, then you'd probably have different messages on different devices by now.
