I have my account recovery key, but forgot my password. I would like to reset my password, but don't want to lose all of my settings. How can I do it?

Firefox says that all settings will be lost when a password is reset. I have my recovery key. How can reset my password to something I can remember without losing my settings?

unfortunately due to security reasons we have to purge all the data when changing master password. you can try backing up the relevant files beforehand though
