Using Thunderbird 52.5.0

When I launch/open Thunderbird the side pane where the contacts are is momentarily black, before it shows the contacts. This did not happy before I installed the update.

I have a Mac Mini OS is High Sierra

Thanks for your reply. Nope. I used Safe Mode for mine & my wifes profiles and the problem remains.
