Need to remove email set up in error

Have set up several email accounts. The first one contains an unresolved error and is rejected. Re-entered this email account information and the email account works fine. My problem is when I check for messages, Thunderbird starts with the account containing the error and does not allow receipt of messages. I need a way to remove the first entry which contains the error. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you removed the bad mail account? Right click on mail account in left Folder pane and select 'Settings'

Is the 'bad' account the one at the top of the list? If yes then it is probably set as default. Set another account as default. select the name of the account which you want to set as default'. click on 'Account Actions' and select 'Set as default'

select the name of the account which you want to remove. click on 'Account Actions' and select 'Remove Account'

click on OK

Thanks for the quick response. I was able to remove the defective account.
