Some search engines redirect to slightly different sites

For example, I added google.com/advanced_search as my search engine but end up on google.com. The interesting thing is that I am on Firefox 42 and I use the old "Add to search bar" add-on (no longer available). It worked fine with old settings, but when I reinstalled Firefox and instead of restoring the old add-ons, started adding them from scratch, I got this bug. Can I restore just the search engines, not the whole profile? Did search engines change how they interact?
