Need Help ASAP. No inbox messages

My inbox is empty. There are no headers or messages in the folder. Saved messages and junk mail is still in their respective folders. I am using Roadrunner and the email is downloading on the TWC site and I can access messages there but I much prefer Thunderbird. I downloaded a couple of other email clients and they were able to get new messages but none of the old ones. I am 81 years old not tech savvy. Is there a simple way to fix this or do I have to give up Thunderbird.

That is entirely up to you. I just fail to see what you'd gain from that, as other email clients you tried didn't recover your messages either.

The other email clients received the new messages--but not the old ones. Thunderbird didn't recover any.

Are you saying you cannot receive messages with Thunderbird right now? If so, see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/cannot-receive-messages

Is there any error message?
