Having issues sending e-mails due to message: "e-mail not sent. Cannot connect to SMTP server 47.43.26.4 (47.43.26.4:587) connect error 10060" Requires 2-6 attempts to send. Also, problems with sending attached files, claiming to be too large.

- What version of Thunderbird?
- What is your operating system?
- Who is your email provider?
- Is this an IMAP account or POP3?
- What Anti-Virus, other security software, or VPN do you use, if any?
The "connect error 10060" often indicates incorrect SMTP settings. Please confirm that yours matches your email provider's recommended settings.
Thank you for the reply. My responses are below:
Thunderbird version - 153.3.1esr(64-bit)
Operating Sys - Windows 10 Home
Email provider - RoadRunner / Spectrum
IMAP or POP3: My desktop PC is POP3, and my cell phone is IMAP
Anti-Virus: Windows Security
On my desktop, the account settings show "smtp-server.rochester.rr.com"
I did ask googles AI about Connect error 10060 and it replied
Connect error 10060 (Winsock error WSAETIMEDOUT) means your network connection timed out because the destination server did not respond. Common Causes
- Blocked Ports: Firewalls, routers, or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) are blocking outbound or inbound traffic on specific ports (such as port 25 for SMTP).
- Active Firewalls / Antivirus: Security software on your device is silently dropping packets.
- Incorrect Host or Port: The server address or port number entered in your app (email client, database, or FTP) is wrong.
- Server Downtime: The target server is offline, overloaded, or unreachable.
I would be guessing that it is those last two overloaded or unreachable (network issues) that are the real problem, but those are not the sort of things corporate America admits to.
Based on how far along this topic was, I simply did not check the fundamentals before I started typing. Apparently I should have!
On my desktop, the account settings show "smtp-server.rochester.rr.com"
The spectrum web site states https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/mobile-email-setup
Brighthouse.com, bak.rr.com, bham.rr.com, cfl.rr.com, emore.rr.com, eufala.rr.com, indy.rr.com, mi.rr.com, panhandle.rr.com, tampabay.rr.com TWC.com and any domain ending in .rr.com not covered above Incoming Email Server: mail.twc.com Outgoing Email Server: mail.twc.com
As Spectrum do not make a specific mention of addresses ending in "rochester.rr.com" in the list you will be covered by the mail.twc.com server. I suggest you start by correcting your server settings and see if you still have an issue
