Thunderbird No download
I Googled Thunderbird and received this link: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-GB/thank-you/?form=support&utm_content=post_download&utm_source=thunderbird.net&utm_medium=fru&utm_campaign=donation_2023&downloaded=True&download_channel=esr It asks for a donation of varying amounts. I donated £15. I received an email thanking me for the donation Thunderbird <give@thunderbird.net> Whenever I click download I'm returned to the Donate page. Are these URL scams?

I assumed, incorrectly, that as the download finished and the Donation window opened "it" was the download. I then (eventually!) opened my eyes and saw the download was called Thunderbird Setup 152.0(13).exe. I clicked it and all was OK!! But clicking the "Download" button always takes me to the Donation page, which is quite confusing, whilst the actual download performs quietly without indication that it is happening. I now have Thunderbird up and running, and thank you for the quick response.

It seems you googled and selected the link that auto opens on the donate page before you had even downloaded the program. So you made a kind donation, thankyou. Then you performed the download and got the donate page for a second time.
This only occurred because you selected the donation link first.
Normally, to get a download from official website, you would go to this link: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/
After the download, Thunderbird may pop up the please donate link because it does not make huge charges for software like other companies. It relies on people making a donation to help with development.
Not a scam. Thunderbird does ask for a donation after a download. You just happened to select the donation page from a google search before you had downloaded, so ended up seeing it twice :)

How many times do you need to download Thunderbird? Usually people only need to do it the once unless they are setting up Thunderbird on several computers.
Please understand, there is no knowledge whether someone has donated or not when they click on download button. It's an auto action on website to display the donation request when the 'download' button is selected.

Are you saying you are clicking on 'Download' button and not getting a download ?
When you click on 'Download' , the file should be downloaded to your computer. I've got a Windows 11 OS and all downloads go to my User Account 'Downloads' folder.
I then access my 'Downloads' folder to see what was downloaded. Then click on the thunderbird setup exe file to start installation.
Have you checked to see what is in your 'Downloads' folder ?

Do make sure you selected the correct options for you eg: Language
