I apparently have 2 versions running, and I need to gid rid of 1
The taskbar shows the Firefox icon with a small 1 in the lower right corner. It appears 2 versions want to run, and I can't get rid of the bad one. I selected a blank start page, yet when I click on the icon it goes to a very different search page default.

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
