I recently checked out Firefox apps, but I am having an odd problem - whenever I try to launch one of them, I get this message: "This program is blocked by group policy. For more information, contact your system administrator." I did some digging, and it turns out this is something that would pop up if you tried to run something on a work computer that your employer didn't want - except, I'm on my personal computer, and my account is an administrator account. I tried running these as administrators, and then they worked - but this shouldn't be necessary, since they aren't doing anything that should require administrator permissions, and I don't want to confirm a UAC prompt every time I launch an app - nor do I want to disable UAC. I did some searching for this specific problem, and I haven't found anyone with this problem I'm having, which is odd. I checked in the group policy editor, and it tells me under Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Software Restriction policies, that there are no software restriction policies defined under, which should mean that it won't interfere with anything. In case it's relevant, my system is a ThinkPad X230T running Windows 7 64-bit, and there is no reason at all to suspect malware, not to mention my last malware incident was at least a year ago, if not more. Firefox version is 37.0.1, which should be the latest, since I have auto-update on. Any idea as to what is going on?

I have problem changing the search engine url for both url address bar, and the search engine plugin. My Firefox version is 35.
Specifically, I want to use Google.co.uk for every search, but it goes to different country of Google.
I tried changing the about:config->keyword.URL: value: "https://www.google.co.uk/#q=" , but it doesn't work,
I also tryied changing the search engin plugin, which doesn't work either.

6:43 PM 4/24/2015 Compatible issues firefox v37.0.2 with att yahoo mail
Hello: this is my first post, hope I am doing it properly. I am using W7pro OS and ATT DSL 3.0Mbps dl I noticed this week that I was unable to save attachments from my ATT Yahoo mail I could view them but no choice as to ware to save them--only choice (save to my comp.)But no ware to be found. I reinstalled v 36.0.4-preventing auto upgrade-But still had same problem. At this point contacted ATT support supervisor-we spent about 4hr working on problem--He was using your v 31.5.0--and had no problem accessing and saving attachments using remolt access on my comp. We also found using my comp.FF v 36.0.4 & v 37.0.2 browser, that we could without any problems access an save attachments--AOL mail-- & mail2web.--& IE--Even when forwarding inaccessible mail to above sites.
He informed me that (ATT mail Yahoo)only uses resources to make them compatible with--Google IE & Chrome &Apple? (basically he was saying, that they would NOT commit resources to FF--any version)BUT he was not allowed to commit.
PS: The last time I know it worked ok was 3-18-15 I have 3 comp.2 wxp pro 1 w7 pro the same problem on all 3--so feel confident not OS related-but compatible problems with FF & yahoo mail.
The ATT support supervisor-was unable to determined the date they may have made changes on their site.without extensive research-which we decided wasn't worth the effort as they wouldn't look in to it.
I hope someone or FF will be able find a workaround-as I do not want to use the browsers they suggest. I LOVE FF.
Thank You Gary

I can't get cbsnews.com videos to play. No errors, just a blank black screen. Their Help tells me to install Adobe Flash Player. (I had Shockwave Player installed and thought that was the same thing - wrong!) I installed the NPAPI version of Flash Player with no problems, but the videos still don't work. The Add-ons manager doesn't show the Flash Player as installed, but if I click on "check if plug-ins up-to-date" it shows Flash Player installed and up-to-date. What am I missing here? Thanks.
i can give you some sample where contact form disabled but when you will open same url in chrome or ie or opera it will work this problem came by recent update into mozilla i think. feel free to mail me for more detail

I have used firefox for years. I like to keep a lot of tabs open so I don't have to search around.
Firefox keeps blinking and stalling as hour glass pause kicks in every 10-20 seconds. If trying to type it messes up your flow.
Don't know the cause. Suspect repeated ajax calls from some page but don't know which one.
Here's a jing video of the problem:

After years of trouble-free use I'm now having problems with Firefox. It is crashing regularly, every time I use it, started about a week or so ago. As far as I know, nothing has changed on my laptop. I've tried starting in safe mode, and I've tried refreshing but nothing has so far worked. I'm attaching the latest of a succession of daily crash reports. Any assistance would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Firefox has been crashing randomly (not at start up) and without warning (is responsive until the crash) on both my work and home computers. My IT person at work has reinstalled drivers, updated versions, uninstalled/reinstalled, etc and to no avail. My home Firefox is now crashing as well. There are no viruses on either computer (we ran virus scans just in case).
Since this is happening on multiple non-related computers my feeling is that this is a Firefox issue and I'm guessing others are having the same issue.

I have a font problem using Firefor 37.0.2 under Windows 7. Fonts on websites look pixelated and are not displayed as clear as they look in other browsers. I already found another thread on a similiar issue but unfortunately, none of the advices there worked for me. Here is my troubleshooting information. Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi, Would be great if you could help. I use Windows 7. Some major Windows update must have been applied that really messed up a few things, including my Firefox browser. Issue 1: All my bookmarks are gone. Issue 2: When I try to locate the Profile Folder (to try and get my old bookmarks, permitted sites etc.) I get an error message instead. It reads "[path] refers to a location that is unavailable." Issue 3: When I set Firefox as my default browser, the next day I have to repeat this step, and both icons in the start menu and on the taskbar are not there anymore. Is there any way of fixing these issues?

I am running Firefox 37.02, Windows 7. I also have shockwave flash addons V188.8.131.52 & V184.108.40.206. The V18 version is beta and was downloaded from Adobe in attempts to resolve this on-going problem. It did not solve it. Through trial and error, I have determined that when I disable the addons mentioned above (note; disabling one seems to disable the other) I am able to get website videos to play (for example: videos on golfchannel.com) but not another (example: www.nbcphiladelphia.com). Conversely, if the addons are enabled, the videos on the www.nbcphiladelphia.com site work but those of the golfchannel.com do not. By "do not" I mean that the preceding commercial video plays but the main subject matter video that is to run afterwards does not. I get a black screen and the commercial video recycles again and again. I contacted the support group at golfchannel.com who said they were not aware of any problems. They suggested I use the Chrome browser which is what they use without problems.

First, I'm a very novice user when it comes to anything related to Firefox. I have basic understanding of my profile, but certainly can't get into any code.
I've also looked at previous threads on this topic and have tried the solutions. Those have not worked. I have taken some screenshots to help describe what I have tried:
I went to this profile folder. In it, I changed "sessionstore.js" to "sessionstore.old". I then went into several of the subfolders, "sessions", "sessionbackups", and "sessionstore-backups". Each one had files which were timestamped from before this morning. I copied them, then pasted in the folder shown in the image, renaming to "sessionstore.js". When I did this, I had firefox closed. Each time I reopened firefox, and restored previous session, the session which restored was the one I opened this morning. Is there something about this newest update which I need to do differently? Thanks

I have been using firefox since it came out. Right after Netscape in fact. It had just about always been a light weight browser. Fast and it worked. Very few glitches. But over the past few versions, the quality has gone down hill. Why ? Whom ever is in charge of it, has lost focus. Please solve the glitches. There are graphical glitches as well as download glitches. Actually there are a lot of glitches that are even memory related. And I have read post after post, with not one of these problems getting fixed. I have even posted questions, and I get the same exact response every time "please reset in safe mode" ... "shut your anti-virus off" ... and one time I even got the response "get chrome, its better". Seriously ? has firefox gotten this bad that we all have to resort to chrome ? I can't stand chrome. But if one were to sit back and look at firefox, its JUST LIKE CHROME ! I don't not like the looks of or the direction of Firefox because its like the developers prefer chrome. ???? #$%#$%?#$?%#?$%
I know about forcing us firefox users to have to CHANGE our settings to go back to the old style, but with each new update, it resets and you just get tired of doing that. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TOO ! I loved firefox the way it WAS. But now with all this bloated crap that is getting installed into Firefox lately, its no longer viable as a good choice between the major browsers. It's pathetic that i am being forced to have to go to chrome because it can handle more then 2 tabs open without falling apart. I'm very disappointed in Mozollia team. It's like they don't care anymore. The Quality is gone.
I know I am ranting here, but dang it, I have been waiting for even half these bugs to get fixed for the past 8 version updates. All I am seeing is more "features" and not enough fixes. The graphical tab glitches, the lock ups, all because of something gone wrong with these past updates. I have even seen people complain about it in the forums here. Like I said, even I posted a problem about the failed downloads. And people tried the usual responses. but apparently no one has a clue whats really going on with firefox because its become too bloated. I said it once and I'll repeat it.. The Quality in Firefox is gone.
If I get banned or this post gets censored, it just goes to show whats been happening to firefox lately.
