When I click email links on web pages I get dozens of unsuccessful IE pages opening!
Each IE page says "Navigation to web page has been cancelled". There are dozens of them all over the desktop and I cannot click "close all pages" for ages!

If IE is referring to "Internet Explorer" You should complain to Microsoft, they make Internet Explorer, Mozilla makes Firefox
Doh - I know THAT! Everything I've read on the net about similar problems seems to hint that it's a problem with Firefox interpreting what the email links mean, but I cannot find a solution.
Check the default email program:
Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.
