Firefox automatically updated itself last night. After this I logged off. Now can't reboot XP at all, not even in safe mode

As above. Starts to boot. Then a dos box flashes up for a microsecond. Then offers the safe mode/last config to work window. Choose any and continue. Starts to load and then just stops with great list of files on screen.

Hey there, it looks like you have a serious issue with Windows. However, as far as I can tell, Firefox is unable to cause this to your system. The update is confined to the Firefox program files, at worst it would make Firefox unusable.

Unfortunately I don't have any idea what might have caused the issue in this case, but I'd suggest asking in forums that are specifically for Windows. They might be able to help you with getting back to a functional system.

Way to not address the issue, If your answer to the symptom is "Not our fault" maybe you could address the Auto-update that is FF's fault!
