I want FF to save my tabs so when i reopen it, I can go back to the same tabs. However, when i go to "options" in the "general" section, i click on the drop down tab "when firefox starts" and the "show my windows and tabs from last time" selection is in grey and i can't select it. WHY?

Go to the "Privacy" section of the option window, and make sure that Firefox is set to remember your browsing history, and not to clear history on exit. Then you should be able to choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" in the startup options.

"Remember my browsing history" is also greyed out and I cannot find any way to change that.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
