How do you set up so that you can view the alternate text on an image when you hover over it like you do in IE?

Using Mozilla at present the alternate text for an image does not pop up when you hover your mouse over the image. This is what occurs in Internet Explorer. In Mozilla Firefox you have to right click, choose Properties and then you can view the alternate text. Is there a way to set up the mouse hover? Or is there a keyboard shortcut to at least view the Properties information of an image on a webpage quicker?

Firefox has always been a bit stubborn about display the ALT attribute when a TITLE attribute is not available. It has always been TITLE or nothing.

Of course, someone created an add-on to emulate the IE behavior. Actually, there might be more than one, but here's what came up in a search (haven't used it myself): Popup ALT Attribute :: Add-ons for Firefox.

The Alt attribute isn't meant to show as a tooltip on hover. The Alt attribute is meant to show if the image isn't or can't be displayed. The title attribute is meant to show if you hover an image or link.

Some extensions can interfere and disable the tooltip.

Thanks. I have downloaded the add on but now have to wait and get IT to install it as I don't have sufficient permissions.
