What happened to the drop down box next to Back and Forward? Often I want to go back two or three pages in one jump, not by clicking back, back, back!

The drop-down marker was removed from the Back/Forward button in Firefox 4.
You can do one of the following:
- right-click the Back/Forward button to show the drop-down list
- while on the Back/Forward button, HOLD down the left-click mouse button until the drop-down list appears
- install this add-on to add the drop-down marker to the Back/Forward button: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
You need to update the following:
- Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.0
- Check your plugin versions on either of the following links':
- https://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
- Note: plugin check page does not have information on all plugin versions
- There are plugin specific testing links available from this page:
- Update Shockwave for Director
- NOTE: this is not the same as Shockwave Flash; this installs the Shockwave Player.
- Use Firefox to download and SAVE the installer to your hard drive from the link in the article below (Desktop is a good place so you can find it).
- When the download is complete, exit Firefox (File > Exit)
- locate and double-click in the installer you just downloaded, let the install complete.
- Restart Firefox and check your plugins again.

Thank you, have installed the plugin now. Stupid thing to disable, should have been left well alone.
Not sure why you told me to update Shockwave though, didn't ask about that and I'm sure Firefox will tell me to update it if needs be when I start it up.
You are welcome.

- I always review the automatically included list (unless the user over-writes it when posting a question) of Plugins when answering a question.
- No, Firefox will not alert you about updating 3rd party applications.
- That includes things like RealPlayer, Quicktime, etc.
- You need to regularly check for updates to those 3rd-party applications on the 3rd party site or through the 3rd party application itself.
- The links provided for checking your plugins can be helpful in finding updates
- Yes, Firefox will alert you about updating Extensions that you have added.
- To see the list of Plugins reported with your post, click "More system info..." to the right of your post.

Those applications will remind me of updates when due in that case. No need for you to tell me about them. I didn't see any opt out options when I originally posted.
Good luck with that. I guarantee you that Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in will not remind you.
