whenever i try to scroll local newspaper of even NY times firefox freezes and i have to reload the page. also on Schwab.com i can not use the pop up quick buy/sell feature as it freezes the page and i can not reload the page of close the page, i have to kill firefox. taht along with the problem of firefox displaying "server unreachable" when MS Edge works just fine. these problems have made firefox unusable to me. I’d test one thing at a time, because the combination of freezing while scrolling, Schwab’s popup hanging, and “server unreachable” while Edge works sounds like there may be more than one Firefox issue.

First try Help → Troubleshoot Mode and test the NY Times and Schwab there. Firefox says this mode disables extensions and hardware acceleration, which makes it a good way to tell whether one of those is causing the freezes.

If it works normally in Troubleshoot Mode, I’d next disable extensions and then try turning off Settings → General → Performance → Use hardware acceleration when available, followed by a restart. Mozilla specifically recommends this for freezes/hangs.

If it still happens in Troubleshoot Mode, then I’d start looking at the network side of the “server unreachable” problem rather than assuming all of this is the same fault.
