What exactly prevents you from getting in and open the message?

The side is locked, and I can,t change to trash or send or anything ! But if I open up a new tab I can read the messages ?!

Start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird Uninstall Lightning via the Add-Ons Manager. Restart Thunderbird. Re-install Lightning in case it's needed.
