getting a grey world on bing.com... which does not fully load, back ground and tabs for stories do not show up until I click on a new website. and than they only show for a second while the new page loads up.

also, getting a shield for westlaw.com, lawschool.westlaw.com, web2.westlaw.com basically anything that has to do with westlaw.

As a law student I kind of need that site to work from. This is issue is persistent on a windows 7 pc. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest firefox and the issue still remains.

I was having the same issue, on my mac, running mavericks. only after I did a clean mac 2 removal, downloaded and reinstalled firefox. than transfered everything from safari, have I been able to use my mac.

the pc I'm currently working on is for work. I can not depend on my own personal computer to access this. please make sure to advise as to how to fix this problem.

What does the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) say about the content blocked by the shield?

If there is a shield icon to the left of the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar then that means that mixed active content is blocked.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem
