Hi,

two days ago, video embeds on Twitter stopped working in Firefox. Please help me troubleshoot the issue, so that I can either fix it myself, or present enough evidence to file a proper bug report.

Affected version: FF 140 ESR. I had some 140.7 installed when the error first happened, but have upgraded to firefox-esr_140.10.1esr-1_amd64 since. Didn't fix the problem. *Not* a snap package, regular .deb!

Affected OS: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, not a fresh install but upgraded from 24.04 instead (which itself was upgraded from 22.04).

Symptoms: Videos on X (and Facebook) no longer play, the preview image is there for a split second, then an error appears. Video on for example Youtube is fine, though. Local players like VLC also do work as expected. Video on X worked under 26.04 before this happened.

The issue likely started when removing surplus packages and metapackages from the upgrade. I of course tried re-installing these, but this also doesn't fix the problem.

On my journey of fixing this myself, I also asked the all-hallucinating knowledge randomizer frontend of OpenAI, which made me check a couple generic spots on my system and in FF itself.

The problem is that whenever I use some website like a streaming website I just cannot dream something like I have get into the home screen like I can't charge a lot of movies choose a lot of movies not charge our movies so and when choosing movies for example I just know he is not click the movie and when I'm watching it like I am at the place we in like you know Boss play That's action it is not work I mean it does not work

I'm going to install the applicatioin because it hasn't been working for several monnths ( it doesn't work anymore ). For exemple , if I want to watch Netflix and the video starts playing , there's no picture, it just loops and the screen is black.

I've tried everything turning off the computer, closing Netflix, even Youtube . I'm at a loss.

Suddenly no audio when using Firefox. Only setting I can find says audio is allowed from all websites. There are no websites listed on that settings page. Audio works fine using other browsers. Any thoughts?

Unable to play a video on Hulu with my own Hulu account, which I have had no issues in the past doing, even with all my ad blockers and trackers enabled (Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, AdBlocker Ultimate, Ghostery, and Malwarebytes). I have tried disabling all of the above extensions, refreshing the website and still no luck. My internet speed is fine, I checked it through 3 different internet speed testers to verify Also checked my Wifi signal through our Google Home portal. why do videos opened in new tabs have an audio delay before the sound comes on? this is a recent phenomenon. So, when I right click a video and click 'open in new tab' when the video starts the audio is delayed 2 to 3 seconds. normally there is no audio lag. this has been happening for perhaps two weeks now. is it related to a setting? I recently adjusted the security and privacy settings.

why is the icon even there or why does it have to disappear and then also change the tab size ?

1) if its there to enable you to play a tab in the background, then i want the option to switch the feature on or off (because i do not want to play anything in the background, atleast not via a 24/7 target practice with a mouse)

2) if its there to give you notice that there is a 'multimedia' tab open in your browser, then i want the icon to stay there and not dissapear plus change tab size...

like what is this even ? are we back in the 50s ?

For the past.. month I would say, any time I try to use Youtube on my Firefox Browser it nearly always switches over to landscape mode after watching a video. It doesn't matter whether my phone screen's auto rotate is on or off it still does it. Yes. I already tried to turn my auto rotate on to switch it back to potrait mode, it still won't work. The only solution I currently have is closing Youtube all together from my Browser, which really REALLY sucks!!

My microphone does not work properly in Firefox, it sounds periodically really low and that doesnt depend on my mic settings. It seems like that is Automatic Gain Control or something like that and idk how to disable it. On screenshot im just speaking as usual but the browser lowers the volume -_-

Using Firefox on Windows 10 Pro & 11.

Beginning in v 150.0, when a media playback occurs, the audio volume in the player gets set to its maximum level. This is true for X.com media and for YouTube videos.

For YouTube it only happens for the first video played in a new tab; subsequent videos in the same tab 'remember' the volume setting from the prior video. In X.com, every media player invoked reverts to the maximum audio level.

In v 149.x and earlier, the media player maintained the audio level from its prior invocation.

Is there a way to have the media player 'remember' its previous audio setting when it gets invoked?

As of around 6 weeks ago (bit of a guess) I no longer have the option of pausing/playing media on a tab from the tab list. For at least the last few years prior to this issue, whenever I had a tab playing media (mostly video, but sometimes audio e.g. a podcast episode on BBC.com) there would be a small pause button for that tab in the tab list.

I've attached a attachment (2 screenshots merged). The tab with the purple circle is currently playing a MP4 video (streamable.com) and I would usually see a pause button, I think where the circle is located but might have been in a different corner.

Additional info: while playing video, I am able to pause through system notification (see image attachment) so the playback IS recognized. But no pause/play button in tab list.

When I open Facebook in Firefox 150.0.1 with no extensions then move the cursor over a video, that video automatically plays.

Preferences | Privacy and Security | Browser Privacy | Permissions | Autoplay | Default is set to Block Audio and Video yet videos still automatically play.

Fire fox is automatically playing videos/sound or both if I click on a tab that has that or also in facebook, etc. How do I stop this? I want to be able to click play when I want to hear/see something.
