The text on my older emails (not that old, in some cases 24 hours) simply disappears. The mail is there but when I click on it, it's blank. I Know there's text there because I've read the e-mail previously. By the way, all the text for every e-mail disappears, not just the read e-mails. I've tried restarting the program etc. and the text is just gone.

Try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder

Well, that just deleted all the e-mails. I suppose that's one way to solve the problem.

Apparently your mail file was already corrupted. Typically this is the result of anti-virus s/w making changes to Thunderbird mail files.

You may be able to recover something following these instructions.

Otherwise restoring a recent backup of your profile folder is your best bet.
