I want to edit the text of the URL in a bookmark. When I manually enter the URL in the Firefox address bar, the website instantly takes me to the secure login page, but it remembers the URL by which I entered. I cannot "bookmark this page" because then I get only the login page, and in future visits the website will have no idea which of the various URLs I was requesting. So, I want to create individual bookmarks for each of my frequently-used URLs, even though they must all route me through the same secure login page.

hello peter, you can edit the url of a bookmark in the bookmark library which you can access through the menu bar > bookmarks > show all bookmarks - just select the bookmark you want to edit, then you can change its properties at the bottom of the window.

Do you get redirected to the correct page after you have logged on?
I assume that the links work once you are logged on?

Sometimes such a redirect connect to the login page and appends GET data like ?url=http://xxxx.xxx to allow redirecting back to the requested page or uses the referrer.

If those pages can only be entered after you have logged on then you can consider to first log on.
Note that Firefox may be caching such redirects and still send you to the login page.

Thanks! With the evolution of Firefox, I had lost track of how to get to the editable URL. This is exactly what I needed.

You can also do this in the bookmarks sidebar via the right-click context menu.

You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Cmd+B on Mac)
