A sincere request to the people who write and release Firefox.

No doubt you have seen the posts of people not liking the new version.

Although these ebs and flows are part of how programs develop, I would strongly suggest that for ALL future updates they install themselves ELSEWHERE and leave the current version of Firefox - which the end user is using and is maybe happy with - well enough alone.

That way if there are problems with the new version and it doesn't do things, the end user can go back to using the "old" version.

Usually an update means a security patch or some other behind the scenes change that doesn't affect the user's use of the software. But today's update turned out to be a total rearrangement of my workspace. All that without warning!

I don't want to have to spend time figuring out where you put things and looking at a whole new design. It's ridiculous. You could have prevented this by telling people what would change and allowing us to opt in or not, instead of just changing how the whole things looks and moving everything around without any warning.

It's like if you rearranged my QWERTY keyboard because you think it's better another way. Maybe in theory there are better ways, but in reality I am trained to do things in QWERTY and now I have to muck around with another set up and retrain my hands and my eyes, or waste time resetting it for no reason. I despise the relocation of the tabs. I don't like the new look. I resent having to drag buttons around that I already customized in the previous version.

Just give us a one step restore option to put it all back the way it was and in the future don't cause your users to waste their time figuring out what you did.

I can't believe I am having to say this, but I have never had any software upgrade that interfered so much with my convenient use of any program and I can't understand why you would think it was reasonable to foist this on people in the way you've done.
