Firefox blocking autofill

cjm111

I have been using Firefox for many years and have been very pleased with this as my first option for a browser; however with the recent upgrade at the Bank of America site, I can no longer use my password manager on the BoA site. The extension has been uninstalled and reinstalled, yet the password manager, Dashlane, autofill will not work on Firefox. I have tried two other browsers, Chrome and Edge and both sites work effectively with Dashlane. Any suggestions on what options there might be to have Firefox functional again. I tried changing the Enhanced Tracking Protection to off and that does not work either and it auto defaults back to on, when I log off. Thanks

Since Dashlane works in Chrome and Edge, the issue may be with how the updated Bank of America login page interacts with Dashlane in Firefox. 1. Make sure Dashlane is updated and you're logged in. 2. Click the Dashlane icon and manually select your saved Bank of America login. You can also try right-clicking the login field and using Dashlane's autofill option. 3. If it still fails, contact Dashlane support since the updated login form may need compatibility fixes.

Does Dashlane fail to fill both the username and password, or just one of them?

Thanks for taking time to reply to my question. Dashlane does not fill the login, whereas it always has in the past. I have tried all the options you suggested including uninstalling Dashlane extension. I have used Dashlane (happily) for many years and was always able to get help in the past; but, evidently with the latest management the customer service is now no-customer service. I tried the chat option and got to the AI quickly and tried all the recommendations...finally connected to a live person and they had me do the same steps as AI, but had no solution and told me that to better resolve the issue needed to transfer me to email. I accepted the email from Dashlane, responded and have heard nothing back in five days. I contacted BoA and they advised me that there is nothing on their end that would cause this problem. Since both Chrome and Edge work, it has to be a Firefox/Dashlane compatibility issue, but no one wants to claim ownership. This is really frustrating for me as I have six different accounts I manage and need to access almost every day and having to manually enter the login name and password (16 characters) is a pain. One last note....previously the BoA site kept the login options for all the accounts and now will not retain any.

I was frustrated that I could not find a solution, I phoned Bank of America back and finally reached someone in their online banking department who advised me that effective October 24 Firefox is no longer supported on Bank of America websites. Would have been nice if the previous person at BoA had told me this on Saturday when I phoned. Their suggestion is to use another browser, so BoA is forcing customers to an alternative option, regardless of customer's preferences. I have used Firefox and like it as I am familiar with it and understand the nuances of it, but now my only option is to use two different browsers for transacting banking and other needs. Stupid on their part, I think. Ironically, as it turns out, none of my financial sites (schwab, OMB and another financial entity all do not work with Firefox)...something seems amiss with financial institutions no longer supporting Firefox.

I'm having the same issue where Dashlane selectively auto-fills passwords on most sites, but on Schwab, Norton, and American Express, and maybe more (unknown yet), the Dashlane passwords show up for half a second then vanish. I temporarily fixed the problem when I turned Firefox sync OFF and reverted to a previous backup copy of Firefox. Knowing when the problem started, I restored a previous day from iMac time machine. This solved the problem for about 3 days then returned. Dashlane works on other browsers very well, but on Firefox it's very clunky. Firefox will not even accept biometrics for Dashlane like other browsers do. Anyway, I found another Schwab login site that the passwords continue to auto-fill. I still can't use Dashlane on the main login site at Schwab. So I found a work around, but I still have not been able to find a way to use it on the other sites. It's very frustrating because everything was working for a long time then suddenly it just stopped. Passwords appear for a split second then vanish. No one has an answer to this issue, but it has to be a compatibility issue between Firefox and Dashlane. Clearing cashe doesn't do anything. I'm a software engineer and I can not find the problem source. The problem has to be in the compatibility coding or a software conflict somewhere. I feel this is CLEARLY a FIREFOX compatibility problem. Dashlane support INSISTS it's Firefox and recommends to STOP using Firefox.

And by the way, "CJM111" I see your post was made yesterday. That has to mean something if your issue just started. My issue started Friday last week. I gave up on troubleshooting it. This has to be more than just a coincidence. Did Firefox release a new version which was loaded automatically? Something must have just changed. I hope more folks come forward so the devs fix the issue. "MALCOLMPARKED" above seems to think it's a BOA issue. Clearly it's not! The ID and password both appear for a split second and disappear on many sites. On other sites it works just fine. So why is it selectively deciding which sites to auto-fill? I also noticed that more sites have been failing as the days pass. I even checked for viruses but NOPE! Macs don't usually get viruses, but I checked anyway. I tried everything and even went through this with Apple technical support. I uninstalled extensions and reinstalled, I exhausted my options. I cant just keep using time machine every time the issue happens because it's VERY inconvenient.

The tags above say Windows. So this is happening across both Mac and Windows because I have a Mac. That's an item I just noticed actually, so maybe it means something? iOS 27.0.1 Golden Gate

Evidently there is something with Firefox that financial institutions like Bank of America, Schwab, Amex and even another bank I use do not like about some security issue or setting on Firefox, so they have elminated all support options for their site to be compatible with Firefox. The person I spoke with at BoA who gave me this information told me it is an issue that Firefox will have to address and then BoA will make the decision as to whether the "fix" is adequate for them to again allow for Dashlane to work on Firefox. I have used Firefox exclusively for at least 15 years, maybe more and have never had any other browser. But I have installed Chrome (which is compatible with Dashlane) and I use it ONLY for my financial links for BoA, Schwab and Amex.....and the other two banks I use. Hope they resolve this somehow.

I also have used Firefox for more than a decade, but I think I will start migrating to Chrome. It might take some time, but Firefox is the welfare of browsers with hardly any money backing them. Alphabet puts a lot of resources into Chrome and has the best "Sandboxing" which makes them much safer than Firefox. It's unfortunate but most good things come to an end eventually.

I agree with your assessment. Unfortunately I am so used to what I have been using, I hate to give it up. There are things I can do with a homepage I created using protopage that work for me on Firefox, but I cannot seem to get the same layout on Chrome....but, alas all good things do come to an end sometimes.
