Update v137.0 broke streaming DRM-content for me, now always in low quality

Hello,

Sorry if this is not the right place to report this, this is my first time and im lost between all these 3 different pages "Discussions/Support/Bugzilla".

The latest Firefox (v137.0) update for Windows 11 that I installed today broke something possibly related to DRM-protected content, at least for me. Now whenever I start streaming live sports, the video always plays in the lowest quality (possibly even lower than the lowest option available in the player, for some reason?).

I tried to restart my PC, clear the cookies for that streaming website, disable all my extensions, but same issue. On my other browsers everything works fine as always, so only Firefox got broken after this last update.

I have both of these options turned ON even before the update: - Use recommended performance settings (Hardware acceleration). - Play DRM-controlled content.

Why do I think it's related to DRM? Because I can now record and take a screenshot of the video, unlike before the update where it always turned into a black screen.

Help please!

I finally rolled back to the latest working version for me, which was 136.0.4 that came out on March 27, 2025 (make sure to disable auto updates before installing a previous version). Now everything is finally back to working as it should.

Warning: After installing the previous version and during first time setup, it refused to let me re-use my same Firefox profile and it forced me to continue without being logged in. I had to log in manually after that, then it finally synced my settings, history, bookmarks, and extensions. Except it didn't actually sync all of my settings as I had re-configure and organize my toolbar and such. It also failed to install all of my extensions so I had to do extra manual work and download the missing one (it's not available on the extension store). This screw up also caused me to lose all of my cookies because now I have to login to every website again.

Why can't we just install a previous version without going through all of this nonsense? Thanks to the broken 137.0 update, I lost an hour trying to get things back to normal. I swear enabling auto updates always makes me regret it one day. What a big waste of time and a headache this was to my day.

Because there are so many things out there which change so fast that its hard to keep up with all the needs? PS 137 isn't broken here.

I didn't ask if the update broke something for you. Im reporting an issue in hopes that it will get fixed soon or if someone can provide me with a solution. Im not sure what your post is supposed to serve here? Others have also reported similar issues, all possibly related to Widevine in this 137 update. So yeah, it's not just me and there's definitely something wrong in this update.

Hello? Isn't this the place to get "support"? Funny how 99% of these discussions are totally abandoned by the officials. How else are we supposed to work and fix issues/bugs with your browser if no one even cares to check this discussions platform? How is this browser even surviving with this kind of support and community?

This place is even filled with spam posts, no moderators or anything so it's literally dead. Good thing I rely on Chrome for everything, only using Firefox to stream videos due to the better PiP features. But I guess it's finally the time to start looking around for some advanced PiP extensions on Chrome and get rid of FF all together.
