I have a yandex.com mail account. Yandex removes all messages in the deleted folder after three months. I am trying to find a way to not have the messages gone also in my thunderbird deleted folder after three months. I already went to "account settings" -> "synchronisation & storage" and said to not delete any messages. Also I went to "properties" -> "retention policy" of that folder and said not to delete any messages. But it seems like since yandex deletes them thunderbird will also.

I was wondering if maybe I have to temper with the "disk space" settings in "account settings". Or is there any other advice I could follow?

Best, Stevie

Chosen solution

If Yandex has a retention policy that can't be adjusted for Trash, then it will override any setting in TB, since their policy is applied on the server, before mail reaches TB. You could create a filter that copies deleted messages to a subfolder of Local Folders, and run it manually.

I guess I could tell thunderbird to move the messages to another folder when being deleted. But I would prefer if they just stay in the deleted folder until I manually empty this one.

Thanks man. I will read into this filter creation and hopefully can set it up successfully.
