I cannot send a message to an email address that is not already in my Address Book because Thunderbird ignores the Send button

I know there is already an active thread like this, but it did not answer my question. Here are the details of my problem: My whole family -- myself, my wife and my daughter -- use Thunderbird. I am the only one who has applied the latest upgrade. We are all on my Netgear Wi-Fi shared Lan at our house and we all have Norton. So, everything we use to send email is exactly identical, except the version of Thunderbird. Same ISP, same email service. Whenever I try to send an outgoing email that has even one email address of a recipient that is not already in my Thunderbird Address Book, that recipient immediately "turns red". When I complete the email and try to send it, Thunderbird does not respond -- it does NOTHING -- when I click on the "Send" button. When I delete all of the "red" addressees, the email goes out perfectly. If I compose the exact same email on my wife's computer with all the same addressees, using her version of Thunderbird, the email goes out perfectly. If I compose the exact email with all the addresses and send it out with either Yahoo Mail or Gmail, it goes out perfectly.

Something is DIFFERENT about Thunderbird since the last upgrade and I KNOW I am not the only one experiencing this, since I read the other thread detailing the same problem with othes. How do I get around this????

Red has been the colour of addresses not in the address book for years.

Does Norton have some sort of "family" security rubbish that might cause this? Does it happen in Thunderbirds safe mode. (restart with add-ons disabled from the help menu.)

My gut is Norton is the issue, but that may be coloured by just how much trouble with email they and their ilk regularly cause. They have a nasty habit of injecting things into running processes that cause these sorts of issue when the programs update. No better than the hackers they are supposed to be keeping out really.

Yes, and it is only the red addresses that block the sending. When all the "red" addresses are removed the email goes, when there is even one "red" address sending the the email is blocked

No, on Norton. I restarted Thunderbird with addons disabled and there was no change in behavior

I disabled Norton Firewall completely and, with Thunderbird still running with add-ons disabled, the same problem persisted. Any other thoughts??

Matt: The info was too long to fit in a reply so I sent it to you via email. Please look for it.

BTW, I have a thought. It may be due to Windows 10 also. I have a down-level laptop which I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 back when they were giving free upgrades. At the same time I was upgrading Thundirbird, I did a MASSIVE upgrasde to Windows 10 and it has had some unwanted "side-effects" as well.

Thanks
