The question says it all. It used to work just fine, but it ceased to function properly with the last few updates.

I'm on an iMac running OS X 10.6.8, Firefox 28. I had the same problem with 27.0.1 and the update before it.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
