I've created a number of (corporate) Address Books, each with detailed information (postal addresses, phone numbers, etc). Often, I get a bounce-back message along the lines of '...please contact John Doe at JohnDoe@mail.com or Jane Doe at JohnDoe@mail.com.' I want to be able to select the original Address Book entry, and copy it to a new entry within the same Address Book, where I can then edit the 2 or 3 differences, instead of having to 1.) create it from scratch, or 2.) export, import, edit... Is there a simple way to just copy an entry to a new entry and let me edit it?? (ideally before saving, but, hey, beggars can't be choosers)

I have several problems with Thunderbird:

- When I first open TB, my Inbox shows "No message found". I have 9654 E-mails in the Inbox. If I click on a different folder and then click on Inbox again, I can see the E-mails in the Inbox. - About once a week when I first open TB, the program begins downloading 10000 E-mails (sometimes more). All these E-mails, with the exception of a few received the previous night, have already been downloaded. This download takes as long as 45 minutes. - TB marks many E-mails as Spam even though I have previously marked these E-mail addresses as not Spam.

Any help with these problems appreciated.

I installed Thunderbird a few days ago and it worked fine for about 12 hours and then I got repeated messages saying "certificate error" and that the app detected potential security threats. After that, I could no longer access my emails. My email provider is Telia, a company in Sweden, which is where I live. I called Telia but they say the problem is on your side. They are not aware of any security threats.

Should I go to the advanced settings and say I accept the risk and just continue?

I am using Thunderbird v140.4esr (32-bit), and the app hangs shortly after I try to create a new email, and I have to close the program and start again. I am using Windows 10 v22H2, current October patch. Whenever I try to create a new email in Thunderbird, I can type about a paragraph or two, then the window with the new email freezes, and the only way I can proceed is to force the program to close and start again. Sometimes I can recover part of the new email by choosing Drafts, but shortly after, it will hang again, and the process starts all over again. This has only started recently. It was functioning properly about a month ago. Why is this happening, and what can I do to mitigate it?

I have an account on Ubuntu that has several mailboxes. I need to shift (migrate) this to a new computer with Debian 13. So far I have tried to follow the idea of copying the hidden thunderbird folder. When I start Thunderbird it has a "Setup your existing email address" page.

This is not easy.

Hi, As I mentioned above [edited from public] @telus.net which is a gmail account has been acting strangely. "Recently my [edited from public] @telus.net account has stopped saving my sent messages. Also when I open an email it then disappears." I have checked the All and Important files but they are gone and I can't figure out what is happening. Any help in discovering why messages that I read disappear would be helpful. Thanks

I use to click on the links in my emails to go to the sender's website. Now they are no longer working. Are there any ideas on how to get the links working again?

When I export my private key and add more user IDs to it, GPG adds extra feature flags that apparently aren't supported in Thunderbird. I've tried following the directions here, but GPG doesn't seem to do anything different with the --rfc4880 flag, and so importing the key back into Thunderbird still gets the "unsupported features" warning.

Even when creating a key in Sequoia-PGP, it seems to add an extra notation? And that also seems to make Thunderbird say it's an extra unsupported feature.

Am I doing something wrong?

My Thunderbird (version 115.12.2) is running on a Windows 11 system. My profile has multiple accounts configured as IMAP to multiple email services. I also have the Status Bar and Activity indicator enabled. Randomly, both indicators will show busy for an extended period of time. When I view this in the Activity Manager I see one or more folders hung for 10 or 20 minutes downloading one message out of several. This occurs in multiple accounts and servers.

I have researched this and attempted the fixes presented. I have cleared the cache files and compacted and rebuild email folders as suggested, but the slow update still occurs.

Then I decided to try and capture a ProMon.exe trace to see what is happening. What I found was Thunderbird.exe was spending all of the time while hung access the following file: C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\LocalLow\Intel\ ShaderCache\4a5eb0e65e559fc08e65ecb2fa9d650817ae895582a7a7ede162866d3e47a05a, like it was stuck in a loop.

When Thunderbird is operating normally, it is accessing this file but only for short period of times. Research says that it is ok to delete the files in this folder. I did that and it seemed to help for awhile. But it started happening again.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Is there a Windows thing to look further into? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was recently required to change my 2 Spectrum email account passwords. I am able to log in to one of them, but not the other, even though the settings in Thunderbird are the same. It shows at the bottom of the screen that it connects to the mail.twc.com server, but the login fails. I am able to log in to my email on the Spectrum website with the same email address and password that I'm using in Thunderbird, so the password is correct. This used to work before I changed my passwords. The email that I can't connect to has a @ in the password so I'm wondering if that special character is throwing it off.

I am getting sick and tired of Thunderbird freezing while writing an email, screen graying out, and having to close the program and lose the material without it having been saved in any way. This has been happening for two or three weeks.

Thunderbird is able to receive email but unable to send email. I have confirmed with my provider that I can send email through their web portal. Mail provider is Comcast. ISP is T-Mobile Virus is Bitdefender build 27.0.55.279 Windows 11 Thunderbird version 144.0.1 64bit SMTP settings attached

When I try to send an e-mail to my son's gmail account it is blocked saying the sender is unauthenticated. Error message says "Gmail requires all senders to authenticate with either SPF or DKIM." What's the fix for this?

I am not sure if this is an issue that is isolated to the DropBox provider or to all of them.

But the issue is when you have multiple attachments and then try and use FileLink to upload them, it appears like ThunderBird tries to make too many connections at the same time or tries to upload too many of them at the same time because some of them will go through but then all of a sudden an error message pops up for the remaining files that says "Upload Error" Unable to upload FileName to DropBox.

Which you could then right click each item below at the attachments location and Convert to DropBox but you have to do it with each individual file.

It seems like maybe the FileLink feature itself just needs to space out each of the uploads in order to avoid this error but I am not sure.

Upgraded from Windows 10 to 11 a couple months ago. Since then, TB freezes nearly every time I am composing an email. "Help About" says TB is up to date. Remedies? Or do I have to wait for a new version?

I have an email from "Wells Fargo" that would auto forward to another email. I removed the forwarding to that other email but Thunderbird keeps forwarding that email each time WF sends an update. Do I need to delete the WF filters and restart Thunderbird or is there something deeper that needs to be done? Thanks for your help kenb

Here is a message I receive when I try to send email from my Hotmail account in Thunderbird.

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Cannot connect to SMTP server 52.96.165.242 (52.96.165.242:587), connect error 10060.

After years of using TB I suddenly lost ability to send messages though could still receive. At suggestion of outgoing message server PlusNet I changed various settings. Now my TB will neither send or receive. I wish to keep my care4free email address. How can I reinstall or recover TB? At present can only send or receive using webmail but do not find this equal to TB
