Sorry to hear about this problem. Is your other Firefox data -- such as saved logins, new tab page shortcuts, custom toolbar layout -- still present, or is Firefox a blank slate? If you haven't already, could you quit Firefox and do a normal MacOS shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.
